“We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are Spiritual Beings on a human journey.” ~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955)
A Spiritual Being is an incorporeal being believed to have powers to affect the course of human events
A Human Being is distinguished by a developed brain and a resultant capacity for articulate speech and abstract reasoning.
So that means, if I am a Spiritual Being on a human journey, I have the power to change human events through my speech and reasoning. When I ponder my power, I find that, without a doubt, my strongest and most effective power is expressed through unconditional love. This unconditional love is joined, of course, by selflessness, non judgment and compassion.
When I apply the expression of unconditional love to “reason,” I find that it is indeed justified (reasoned). I witness that it is uplifting for both the giver and the receiver. Both win because both feel good. And feeling good is contagious. When people feel good their interactions with other people are uplifting, and that upliftment spreads, affecting human events in a positive way.
Not only that, the power of unconditional love seems to be immense, not so easily contained within the human body. Maybe this is how we can explain the “human” aura, the energy that surrounds the human body and has been documented with Kirlian photography. Maybe it explains the many images we have seen depicting Jesus, the Buddha and other Spiritual Masters with halos. Maybe the “human” aura is actually part of our Spiritual Being. Maybe our Spiritual Being is so big that it can’t be contained within our human body. And if the Spiritual Being within my human body is emitting the power of love expressed outside of my human body too, then it must be affecting people with whom I come into contact but don’t even know.
With great power comes great responsibility…
But I also find that I express other power that is not justified, cannot be reasoned.
When I am angry, sad or judgmental, for example, and do not heal my negative emotions but rather aim them at other people, that energy is affecting those around me too – with negative power. And that’s contagious, spreading to affect human events in a negative way. How can I justify that? I can’t. If I am a Spiritual Being on a human journey, I use my power to change human events that include countless human beings. I can’t justify causing harm, no matter what the circumstance. Yet sometimes I do cause harm.
Maybe our Spiritual Beings are on this human journey to experience the healing of our human wounds, our emotional wounds, so we can affect human events only through unconditional love. Affect human events so all human beings can express their own unconditional love. Where every human being is healed, loved, joyful and peaceful. Where our Spiritual Beings on this human journey will, finally, have reached the zenith of their evolution.
On to a new journey.
