If you live in New Jersey, you probably live a very busy life. I live and work in New Jersey and almost everyone I speak to and work with seems to have the same narrative of being over the top busy! We are all doing the best we can to balance life in this moment, but can we do better?
The answer is an endearing absolutely YES we can!
MARCI®'s 1st first principle teaches us to be Mindful, completely present in our lives.
Mindfulness is a buzzword that we hear often today in the headlines of the media. More and more schools and workplaces are incorporating mindfulness into their daily practice and agendas.
Are those reaping the exposure to mindfulness taking the initiative to really practice “mindfulness” in their every day lives?
Mindfulness is a conscious act to shift from the patterns and habits we have become addictive to. Change only happens when we decide to be more mindful of our patterns and habits, and then to take the steps, or baby steps to be more “mindful”.
Principle two is Awareness. It is closely adjoined to Mindfulness. You have to be present in your life to be more Aware of not only your patterns and habits, but a deeper sense to your thoughts, words, actions and reactions. With each step we deepen our awareness to the past, our present, and future.
When we spend too much time living in the past with our memories, good or bad, we take away from the memories we are potentially creating today. Likewise, when we spend time in the future whether it is worrying or planning, we take away from the moment we are in now.
Don’t get me wrong, past and future has its place.
It is all about balancing what we can take from the past and create or recreate for our future. Holding onto the wrongs of the past, or missing those who are no longer with us triggers our emotions to feel a burdensome bond to grief, abandonment, anger, loneliness, fear and so forth. Worrying about tomorrow, or creating a story that something bad is about to happen takes you out of the scope of reality and draws you into the imagination of something that is not real.
Remember Yoda’s wise words.
Gratitude is an important element in the garden of MARCI®. Say your gratitude’s, and it can/will change your whole outlook for living in the moment of your life.
Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas to ALL. May you find the “Gift” of Peace, Love and Joy within your daily practice of MARCI®.
