The holiday season is usually a stressful one. We are often under a lot of pressure to create the perfect holiday. For many of us, this means more fret than fun. Try to make a commitment to maintain your wellness and enjoy the beauty, warmth, and abundance of this time of year by doing this one science-based exercise.

Jump start your holiday season and enhance your well-being and flourish.

Take a daily vacation practice!

What makes you smile? Laugh? Go giggly with glee? Make your “I love” list. List everything that you enjoy - nothing is too small or too large. If you enjoy it - put it on the list and then each day do that one thing.

For some it’s a spin on a roller coaster or a solo movie date... Or maybe you could play your favorite music while doing dishes, watching the sunrise when sipping on a cup of tea, just choose a different activity every day and set aside your worries and fears for a while.

When is the last time you did something that makes you happy?

Consider this; happiness lowers stress levels, increases immune system function and lowers your risk for disease. It also makes life a whole lot easier.

Study shows that it’s more important to increase the number of positive experiences than to intensify them.

So doing one pleasurable thing per day (or more) is the most powerful anecdote for stressful days.

During your daily vacation try to be fully present and notice all the sensations - all your positive emotions and start planning ahead for what activity you’re going to do the next day. Don’t forget to have fun and look forward to it!
